To avoid transparency problems I have made these changes:

own_window_argb_visual yes
own_window_argb_value 255

That's not gonna work with this conky. The images will get screwed up.

The today day follows locale (numbers and days) language, while the other days stay in English no matter the system language.  Is it possible to make them all follow locale?

Yeah it's possible to translate the days, but I have forgotten how to do it.

In fact I was wrong saying that the other days follow the system language. They stay English even after I changed my system language too!!

I think it's in ~/.cache/weather.xml.

There I see a list with what is on the desktop:

Thu - Partly Cloudy. High: 23 Low: 12

Fri - Sunny. High: 29 Low: 17

Sat - Sunny. High: 29 Low: 14

Sun - Partly Cloudy. High: 27 Low: 17

Mon - Partly Cloudy. High: 28 Low: 17

Can I change it there? I think that is temporary stuff anyway, changing every day etc.

Is it something related to yahoo weather being in English?

Yahoo only offers english. In order to use days in other languages you'll need to use other conky features, not rely on yahoo. Google should find the solution.

But can I use YOUR conky with another service, like the Yahoo weather service in French (fr.meteo.yahoo.com/)?

In fact what intrigued me is that I have seen your conky on an old website in Spanish and all the days were in Spanish. (entornosgnulinux.com/2014/03/0…). That PPA does not work anymore it seems.

The Spanish post is not yours, is it? :)

No, I don't speak Spanish XD.

I meant that yahoo's API only offers English, and this conky utilizes the info provided by yahoo to display the days. In order to display them in other languages, you can use 'execi' and run the date command to show all the days, and use the LANG variable to change the outputs language.
Here is an example: pastebin.com/SJW663NA Take a look at the days section!

Also, this will only work for the days. Weather descriptions ('partly cloudy') and other stuff are provided by yahoo and only come in English.

Hey, quick question :)

I'm a complete noob to stuff like this, but why exactly do you 'execi 300'? I assume that this means the command is run once every 5 minutes?

Wouldn't this be a bit of a cpu drain? Since the temperatures won't be changing drastically over even a couple of hours, wouldn't a larger interval be more economical?

I've changed the code to make it run every hour... Can you see any downsides  to this?

Thanks!
P. :)

Dunno, I guess it's personal preference.  I kinda doubt that 300s is a cpu drain, but it makes sense to increase the interval as well.

So I wanted to change the colors of the icons a bit more dynamically. Using imagemagick, I was able to accomplish this on the fly.
Simpy "sudo apt-get install imagemagick"; then change your icon lines to use the following syntax: github.com/erronjason/dotfiles…
Where #C7692C is the color you want it to be.

Is there any reason why conky disappears after intial boot (about 5 secs) and has to be restarted from the terminal? Its set to run in startup settings.

Hey thanks for the fast reply

I thought that curl was installed by the <sudo apt-get install conky-all> command which I used to install conky but it must not have since when I open it from the terminal I get this error message

sh: 1: curl: not found

Plus a whole lot of 'No such file or directory' lines lol

Can you install it after the fact with ok im guessing <sudo apt-get install curl>?

Soz im a very rank newb, thanks for your help!

There is a README file in there specifically saying that you need to install curl via "sudo apt-get install curl".

It seems you are using unity...That is a problematic one regarding the black background.Basically your only hope is to try a program like "feh".Feh will draw the background for your desktop.I donīt know of any other way to fix it for unity.
As for the temps being all wrong, did you put the correct WOEID into the conky?

so, I uninstalled conky, curl and yr conky files when I was having issues. Stumbled upon a solution to the transparency problem, re-downloaded everything and it worked, but even before I implemented the transparency hack, the orientation is all off now. I dunno how to fix this, any ideas? There's all this space in between the icons and the day name etc. Ugh. Thanks in advance; when this is calibrated properly it looks so great!

Disregard that! I'm read through the other comments and it led me to playing around with the .rc file alignment settings. Trial by error but I'm getting there. Two questions though, how to I get the time to display in a 12 hour AM/PM clock and how can I change the temp for C to F? Thanks again, beautiful work!
